I know of the common ones, but I need a company thats very reliable. Since this will be used for e-commerce, I need something where I can depend on the company and contact them if something goes wrong (hackers, spammers, etc). Any suggestions?

godaddy and their support should be fine for u !
NameCheap.com is the way to go ! really reliable.
GoDaddy for reliability, support, and an easy to use control panel. It's powerful, but unlike Namecheap, doesn't take 20 minutes of slow page loading and errors to navigate.
Quick story as to why I love their support.. just one of several encounters with them..
I own the typo versions of several of my major domains. Some of the words are a little odd and people don't spell them correctly when trying to return to the site to check on an order or log in to an account. I saw the one of my domains was coming up for renewal, an important one at that. I logged in to GoDaddy, bought two more years, and thought nothing more of it.
A month or two later I noticed I wasn't able to reach my site. I checked that the server was up and DNS working, everything checked out. Eventually I checked the domain and, to my surprise, it no longer showed any whois data and was long expired. It hadn't dropped yet, but it was past the pendingdelete stage where whois data still shows.
I called up GoDaddy to find out how that was possible and realized I had renewed one of the typos of the domain instead of the main one. The support person on the phone was very helpful, called in someone from the right "team" to help with domains outside normal control, and had them recover the domain from the registry and put it back under Godaddy's control. I was on the verge of losing it, they said. The support rep I was talking to also saved me the $70 fee they usually have to charge to regain a domain pending deletion. He said that if the system let him put it in as a renewal after the other guy recovered it, he'd be able to restore my ownership of the domain for just the normal renewal fee. I added on a few years. Great experience with GoDaddy support.
Dont know how you managed to find any problems in NameCheap's website. For me the domain registration takes only few minutes, while at GoDaddy i have to pass througth multiple pages of SPECIAL offers, also GoDaddys payment processing system didnt accept my credit card, despite the fact few minutes later i have bought a domain at namecheap.Quote:

I guess it is all the matter of likes/dislikes heh.
are namecheap and godaddy easy to scam? The reason I ask is because I owned a really popular domain name several years back. Someone wanted it bad enough and managed to spam my site to network administrators. The admins complained to my registrar and the company took away my domain. They wouldnt even take the time to investigate the problem.
I used
godaddy,
directi,
namecheap,
network solution,
ev1 domain
so far, ENOM is the best option for me
I prefer Registerfly.com
I have 150+ names with them and I simply love their CP / Rapid mail support cause they always respond to my queries / mails within 1-2 hours without fail.
They say moniker.com is the best now since alot of the big players have their domains there.
But I like having an Enom Reseller account.
I vote for godaddy. Their prices are lowest and I didn't have any problems.
I read about some warez site that was taken down by deleting domain registered at go daddy (because it was only way - site was hosted in a country where warez is not illegal).Quote:

Regarding this topic - do you know what are official regulations about deleting domains for xxxxxx reason?
I have to say Directi (Mainly for the price and their reseller api :) )
My vote go to iDom. Price and Quality.
I use Mydomain.com
Not the cheapest, but they're domain search tool plus support for a lot of secondary domains. .info, .us, etc etc..
I have over 30 domains with them and would not swap. Plus they include free forwarding / stealth forwarding.
All personal preferance and who's system you like. I have only used Godaddy.
I've used DirectI, Godaddy and Namecheap.
If you only want to register a few domain names, my suggestion is Namecheap because of the price and easier to use control panel.
For support I'm very happy with DirectI, Namecheap didn't even response to my ticket (I have only open 1 so far).
Reliability I believe all are almost the same. I only register a domain, setup the nameservers then leave it there for 1 year, never have any major problem with any of them. The only one I had was my self-registered nameservers with Namecheap were always on and off which seems to be fixed now.
I am using namecheap.com and I like their service and support.
What about enom??
I havent worked with enom but I heard pretty good things about it.
I am working with a local service provider that is linked to dotregistrar and I have no complains about both of the companies.
Finally, I can say people to stay away from totalregistrations because they ask for money even when you ask to transfer your domain from one totalreg. account to other.
Also transfer prices from other registrars were expensive as far as I can remember.
eleven2.com
go with the leader. Enom :) but through their reseller , which is cheaper.
