Will the human race evolve to be able to deal with these new pressures?
Mother Earth Getting Warmer

NASA study seems to show the Earth absorbs a lot of energy and releases very little back to space.

It's an imbalance that makes for a hotter planet. An increase of about 1 degree Fahrenheit in the Earth's temperature has happened over the past century, and another 1 degree increase will likely happen this century.
"This energy imbalance is the 'smoking gun' that we have been looking for," said NASA climatologist James Hansen.
If greenhouse gases aren't controlled, Mr. Hansen contends the increase could be as much as ten degrees over the century.
Another climatologist, Kelly Redmond, who works at the Desert Regional Institute in Reno, has questions about the scale and cause of the warming.
"How do you tell if it's global warming when you're standing in your backyard?" he said. "Is it global, or your backyard? That's our dilemma, because although the Earth may be warming as a whole, it's not warming uniformly."
In Michael Crichton's State of Fear, the protagonist cites Mr. Hansen's previous work on global warming and contends the climatologist exaggerated the scope of the problem.
