Hi,
As per SEO point of view which is most important for a site in between PR or Alexa Rank ?
They are both different:
Page Rank is how far you are in the search results for your key words, and Alexa is based on your website's traffic on the Web.
Hi,
I agree with mike, I mean PR and alexa rank both are different thing for a site and PR came from site quality from Google and alexa came from site traffic via Google. Both are necessary for a site I mean if you site's PR 3,4,5 then its good Google give PR between 0 to 10 and alexa rank is 1000 then its good for your site
Both are useless metrics that only exist to entertain us and fool the SEO Kiddies.
cbpayne is pretty much right.
Google has 2 different PRs. There's toolbar PR that we can see and is almost never updated. Then there's the PR they use internally that actually has some relevance.
Alexa rank doesn't mean anything for ranking. It just tells you how many people visit any given site with the Alexa toolbar installed.
PR indicates the authority of the site which is gained by unique content and High PR backlinks to the site.
Alexa indicates how much traffic you are getting to your site
Alexa Rank matters more than Google PR.Because I can give you example of many website which are not having any back links, good content and much knowledge of SEO but their Page Rank is at least 2 . So we can say PR depends on age of your domain while Alexa depends upon your website traffic
PageRank = How many quality backlinks your website has.
Alexa = How much traffic your website receive.
What a load of rubbish! Alexa does NOT tell you how much traffic is going to a site. All it does is tell you where you rank in traffic from those who have the Alexa tool bar installed which is installed by less than 0.01% of web users! .... ie a useless metric.
Pretty obvious statement for those who really do not know both the terminologies very well. Actually in my views alexa rank is not of much importance because alexa only counts those visitors who already have installed the alexa toolbar. As far as the Google pr is concerned, Google gives weight to the sites who have a domain authority, good backlinks and a number of other factors.
PR and Alexa both are different my friend. PR as you know page rank it comes when you have you high pr sites back-links and quality back-links and Alexa comes when you have all keywords in good ranking and you are getting good traffic.
All I can say is in their operations they r mutually exclusive ..
But from Seo perspective they both r important
Hello all,
Page rank is given by Google as on quality or promotion of site or Alexa rank is given as on the basis of traffic on site. So both are necessary and 2 different thing for a site.
Hi all
Thanks for all opinion. Now I got the point that both are 2 essential and different thing for a site and also both are necessary. Thanks again
No, you didn't get the point :)
They are both different, but they are also both completely irrelevant to your ranking.
Much more useful metric is Domain Authority, Page Authority and Trust Flow.
Pagerank measures your blog's popularity by got referred from trusted and authority pages.
Alexa measures the traffic, visiting time of visitors.
Therefore, both are important. But i think PR cut slight edge when it comes to SEO. As seo is measures backlinks, therefore, better page rank equals more link you have.
Both are very (emphasis on the very) mildly relevant.
If Alexa toolbar usage were used by a purely random sampling it would be fantastic, but its usage tends to gravitate towards tech and marketing people. As you get into higher traffic sites, it is more accurate. I do not believe that Alexa rankings are at all a part of any major search ranking algorithm - it's just a nice tool to help gauge the reach of a site's audience in very broad terms while performing PR / outreach.
Google PageRank is a real model of how link authority flows. It's one factor of 200+ considered by Google search. They have also stated 1.) That "toolbar pagerank" (the data you are able to see) is only a guide and does not exactly match the data they're working off of for rankings and 2.) as of late, the public version is only being updated a couple of times a year, if that. So again, incredibly minor. A total spam site can have great PageRank; Google will know about it, and you definitely don't want anything to do with it.
One slightly more relevant metric might be Moz's MozTrust (different than MozRank). "Matt the Math Man" gave a fantastic presentation at MozCon 2012 that related MozTrust's mathematic calculations to what actually ended up ranking on a real scale. Of PageRank, MozRank, and MozTrust - MozTrust was by far the most reliable indication of quality as it's perceived by Google. But even still. One factor of many.
These are interesting ideas, but on the whole I think that all of the above is usually the wrong place to look. Consider Google's full list of ranking factors a checklist and be the site that they want to rank - with awesome organic marketing, a great user experience regardless of platform, and feeding them the data that they need to do their job (especially structured data for the knowledge graph now). It takes a lot of patience, but it always seems to pay off in the end.
Pr and Alexa rank are different things
Higher PR means that your site has more authority in Googles eyes based on your content and backlinks. Alexa rank is the rank of your site is based on the traffic your website has and is relative to other websites.
Both are different to each other and non of them have any kind of dependency on one another. Alexa counts the visits to a site if Alexa toolbar is installed over the pc the visitor is using.
Page rank is a rank to a site assigned by Google which is assumed that Google calculates it after examining more than 200 factors over all.
