We purchased a netscreen 204, seems like a good firewall, however because we have a gigE network and it's 100mbit, it's only going to be eBay material soon.
A buddy of mine used Netscreen for his employer's network. He gave it the thumbs up so it can't be too bad. However, it isn't cheap.
What is your budget?
We have been using http://www.captusnetworks.com for almost two years now. We just received their new product which they switched out for free (other then service fees). The new box is sweet, plus it is layer 2 (our old one was a router).

Pricy, but it is by far the best thing we tested and looked at. The TLIDS™ (Traffic Limiting Intrusion Detection System) feature is great. The box also handles a lot of traffic, so you can grow into it. It comes with two GB ports.
I would highly recommend these guys. Their sales and support is very good. Plus they fly in and do the install. But again, it isn't a few thousand dollars. If interested, call and ask for Selwyn Jamurath.
Nick, hint - hint. ;)
If it worth the money, I don't mind paying $2000-$3000 for it.
Yeah, this is ~$20,000. But it is worth it. :)Quote:

I like the netscreen its a bit pricey but will do the job. One product which has recently caught my attention (Put one in a clients office the other day) is the CyberGuard SL 3200 nice, has the nice little graphic interface and really once they go through a short training (not really needed if you have worked on a firewall previously) its fairly easy to use and has alot of options. Pricey yes, worth it.. I would say depends on how much security you need it all runs on how secure you need to be..
I'd go with a Cisco Pix over Netscreen.
We have used and abused pretty much every firewall under the sun from Checkpoint to Pix to Netscreen to Servgate... The winner which is head and shoulders above the rest is Fortinet. Their pricing model is a bit odd (way too expensive on the low end and dirt cheap on the high end) but their is no other product I would feel completely comfortable recommending.
Check out www.fortinet.com
Fortigate's are definitely nice (expensive), but on a budget I'd go with a used/refurb PIX 515 UR from Ebay.
For under $2k total you can get an unrestricted license that supports up to 6 interfaces, failover capability, and 64mb ram. The SmartNet contract will run you about $350/yr.
