Hello fellow WHTers!I was standing in the checkout line of the local grocery store the other day, pushing my cart that contained all the essential ingredients for some fresh lasagna goodness. The woman in front of me was juggling between unloading her cart and maintaining control over the two young children around her. One of the kids had grabbed a candy bar from the aisle-side display that was just too tempting within reach of little hands. The woman emptied her cart as the clerk rang her up. After the last item from the cart had been scanned, the clerk politely asked the woman for the candy bar wrapper so she could scan it. "Well!," scoffed the customer, "I didn't see he had that. Where'd he get it from?" The clerk said, "Maybe he just picked it up from the display, if you didn't give it to him." "If I didn't give it to him?!? Are you saying that I tried to steal one of your precious candy bars? How dare you accuse me! I'm not paying for that! If he got it from there, it's your fault for putting it where kids can just grab it like that." This drama escalated and went on long enough for me to find a different lane to check out. I was ready to do some mad cooking! We've either all seen them, or encountered customers with unreasonable demands. Our spotlighted threads begin with an example of such a customer. Thanks for all you do in keeping WHT the thriving community it is. |
