Hello
WHTers!
Pleased to meet you!
We drove an hour and a half to spend the day in beautiful Holland MI U.S.A. Dan (ldcdc) and his wife had traveled thousands of miles to visit relatives there. And I couldn't miss an opportunity to meet with one of WHT's own. It was a gorgeous sun-filled day as we toured the Dutch Village attraction and enjoyed lunch on the grounds. Meeting those you've known as online acquaintances is always a great experience. You form a mental picture of who you're talking with on IM or through forum posts. And, as close as that picture may be, there's always a difference.
I've known Dan for several years. Well, I've known him as well as you can know anyone you interact with on nearly a daily basis yet have never met in person -- until now. He's always struck me as a person of character, understanding and values. I suppose it's those qualities that convinced us to recruit him as moderator so long ago. One thing a personal meeting does is confirm what you've known. But then it adds those little details, like a voice, a face, their stature and style. It solidifies a personal connection and you'll never look at your online experience with them in the same way.
It's one of the great benefits of events like HostingCon. You get to meet those you've done business with or have considered doing business with. You get to meet those you've had social interactions with and those you've simply been curious about. There's plenty of networking, plenty of parties, plenty of handshakes and, if you get near me, there's going to be some hugging. I'm a hugger!
This isn't a sales message, but being the frugal person I am I'm obligated to remind you that Early Bird pricing ends June 29th. I really hope to see you at this event. It's gearing up to be the biggest and best HostingCon yet! For your security and peace of mind, all payments are processed through PayPal or Authnet.
Thanks for listening. And I'll see you on the forums.
