Hello Fellow
WHTers!
Privacy Protection
We live in a relatively quiet neighborhood. It's not quite Suburbia. But it isn't downtown either. Folks are quiet yet friendly. And yards are neat. We were blessed to find this house on a corner with a yard that resembles a park. There are ornamental trees and bushes, flowers and shrubs, and enough grass to give the grand kids plenty to do.
We could escape to the backyard and pretend we were in the hidden acres of a country retreat. The Oak and Maple trees that lined the road offered plenty of shade and privacy. And it's that small sense of privacy that made our lot so peaceful when we enjoyed the backyard cookouts or simply relaxing in the covered swing.
That all changed last week when the electric company decided that the 14 trees lining the road were too close to their equipment. They exercised their rights to completely remove 11 trees and chop 3 others into something unrecognizable. Not only did we lose our privacy, but the trees provided shade to the house and helped keep it cool. And let's not forget about the environmental impact. But it's that privacy bit that's so hard to adjust to. It was difficult to see the house and yard from the road before. Now it's like it's right there. Privacy is something we take for granted -- until it's gone.
Our first featured thread touches on the privacy aspect by exploring the pros and cons of Privacy Protecting a domain name.
