Atlanta, Georgia – (The Hosting News) – February 6, 2009 – Colocation, outsourced managed and unmanaged server provider, and owner of Atlanta NAP and NetDepot, Global Net Access, LLC (GNAX), has completed its Level3 circuit upgrade, from a 1 gig circuit to a 10 gig circuit.

Jeff Hinkle, President of GNAX remarked that the upgrade is ”significant for disaster planning for GNAX customers since it was implemented as a different Level3 location than the current gig connection.”

GNAX acquired another dark fiber pair from AGL Networks of Atlanta and worked with the engineering team to engineer a solution that traverses a different path than GNAX’s current fiber to its providers.

Mr. Hinkle added, ”The new path completely avoids Telx at 56 Marietta Street, which is the current termination point of the GNAX metro Ethernet networks. The new fiber terminates at Level3′s 345 Courtland Street facility and gives GNAX both increased redundancy and capacity. This is unique to most of the data centers in the region – especially in the city of Atlanta. Many have a ring or multiple paths, but like we were constructed in the past – they all come back to one single point of failure facility.”

The upgrade brings the total GNAX backbone capacity to 31 gigs and the total Metro E capacity to 30 gigs, which de-bottle necks any metro e constraints and positions GNAX for continued growth in its Atlanta market.
