Virtual Iron Launches IT Survey
October 2, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Server virtualization software provider Virtual Iron Software (virtualiron.com) announced on Monday that it has launched a new research survey aimed at defining the emerging IT infrastructure needs of hosting providers.
Virtual Iron says that Web hosts have unique IT infrastructure requirements, and to be successful, they must share computing infrastructure across multiple customers while delivering all the security, isolation and performance of a dedicated environment. Additionally, Web hosting providers must expand and differentiate service offerings while meeting stringent service level requirements, address problems associated with under-utilized capacity or under-sized hardware and simplify system management and reduce high operational costs caused by a complex data center infrastructure.
The company says the survey, which can be viewed here, focuses on the data center needs of hosted service providers and the potential role server virtualization might play in addressing them by reducing data center operational costs, increasing management flexibility and improving service levels.
Participants will automatically be entered in a drawing for a new Apple iPhone and the company says it will publish the findings of these results at the conclusion of this project and make them available for download on its website.
