Verizon Helps with Marine Event
December 3, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Telecommunications provider Verizon Business (verizonbusiness.com) recently partnered with videoconferencing solution provider Tandberg (tandberg.com), wireless hardware provider Mesh City (meshcity.com) and the Freedom Calls Foundation (freedomcalls.org) to facilitate an international videoconference between marines in Camp Fallujah and Al Asad Air Base in Iraq and their families at Camp Pendleton, California.
On Sunday, the satellite video link, part of the holiday event for the second year in a row, enabled the Marines in Iraq to virtually participate in the festivities as their families and friends at Camp Pendleton met Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and other costumed characters who arrived by the Metrolink Holiday Toy Express train.
Verizon Business, Tandberg and Mesh City provided a large-screen video display, communications links and on-site technical support. The Freedom Calls Foundation, which offers free calls for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, provided the satellite link to the Freedom Calls centers at the two locations in Iraq.
Camp Pendleton is the headquarters for the I Marine Expeditionary Force, which has Marines in Iraq and is preparing to deploy additional forces in the coming months, says Verizon Business.
Last week, Deltek began employing a wide range of Verizon Business services to support its rapid growth and portfolio expansion.
