UnitedHosting Partners with R1Soft

April 4, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- UK Web hosting provider UnitedHosting (unitedhosting.co.uk) announced on Wednesday it has formed a partnership with R1Soft (r1soft.com) for continuous data protection backup technology.

Continuous data protection enables UnitedHosting to run close to continuous data backups of all its servers and customer data. UnitedHosting have deployed a private network between separate data centers in order to perform CDP backups to off-site secure locations, protecting data even during worst case scenario.

R1Soft's technology works at disk sector level, rather than traditional file level, delivering bare-metal disaster recovery. Even in the worst possible circumstances UnitedHosting could restore a server from a very recent backup in a matter of minutes. With continuous data protection, UnitedHosting maintains a completely reliable, recent copy of all data that is stored well away from its primary facilities.

"Our new off-site CDP backups provide our clients with complete piece of mind at many levels," says Matthew Wallis, director of United Communications Limited. "If a customer deletes a file by mistake, it can be restored, but also in the face of any major catastrophe we have a secure, off-site copy of all data which can be restored to new servers in record time."
