Tucows Enhances Email Service

February 1, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Internet services wholesaler Tucows (tucows.com) announced on Friday it has enhanced its Tucows Email Service, providing customers with the option of using the spam and virus filtering portion of the service in conjunction with their current email infrastructure.

Tucows email service customers can now choose between a fully-hosted email service that includes POP3, IMAP, WAP and Web mail access and 2GB of mail storage, or continue to provide their own email access and storage while using the Tucows Email Service as a gateway that blocks any incoming unwanted email.

The company says that providers who choose this filtering-only option will see a significant reduction in the volume of messages reaching existing email infrastructure while providing high-quality email filtering for their users.

"Our approach with the Tucows Email Service is to deliver the tools our customers need to provide simple, reliable and cost-effective email to their users," says Kim Phelan, director of messaging for Tucows. "We recognize that some existing providers of email want to continue to manage their own email infrastructure, but at the same time, might want to offload the increasingly challenging task of managing spam for their users. Providing the Tucows Email Service as an anti-spam filtering solution without the associated storage and inbox access addresses this need."
