SoftLayer Joins The Green Grid

June 11, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies (softlayer.com) announced on Monday it has become a member of The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org), furthering SoftLayer's commitment to environmentally friendly operations.

The Green Grid is an organization comprised of information technology companies and professionals that work towards uniting data center efficiencies worldwide.

"SoftLayer has long focused on reducing the environmental impact of our own facilities," says Sam Fleitman, chief operating officer of SoftLayer. "We've accomplished a lot, from deploying systems with greater power efficiency to increasing our data centers' density while minimizing their footprints. By joining The Green Grid, we're expanding our scope beyond just optimizing our own operations to helping the industry set higher efficiency standards and develop better environmental practices."

The Green Grid is working through its members' interactions to develop new and meaningful, platform-neutral standards, measurement methodologies, processes and technologies that will improve the energy performance of data centers around the globe.

SoftLayer Technologies recently announced it launched an Open API designed to control all facets of the dedicated hosting environment.
