Bellevue, Washington – (The Hosting News) – January 28, 2009 – Search engine, Dogpile, has reported that it has reached the $250,000 mark, two months since the launch of its pet Search and Rescue campaign goal of raising $1 million, through the end of 2009.

Search and Rescue is a creative online philanthropy program designed to aid pets in need by donating a portion of the revenue generated from Internet searches conducted on Dogpile.com to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and other animal-related charities.

Stacy Ybarra, Senior Director of corporate giving noted, ”In these tough economic times, pet charities need all the help they can get. We’re glad to be able to offer our users an easy way to donate to a good cause without having to pull out their wallets.”

In addition to searching on Dogpile.com directly, a search engine that pools results from all major search engines, consumers can help raise funds and awareness by downloading a Search and Rescue toolbar or by inviting a friend to help out through the Dogpile Search and Rescue Facebook application.

Ed Sayres, President and CEO of the ASPCA remarked, ”The ASPCA is thrilled that the pet community has responded so positively to this program. The contributions raised for us through Dogpile’s commendable efforts will enable us to further our mission and help countless animals in need.”
