R1Soft Releases MySQL Add-On

July 26, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Continuous data protection solutions provider Righteous Software (r1soft.com) demonstrated at HostingCon 2007 (hostingcon.com/2007) this week its MySQL data protection add-on module, designed to support large or frequently changing databases that cannot tolerate downtime or performance decreases during backups.

Initially announced in March, R1Softs MySQL data protection add-on module is the first data protection product of its kind for MySQL databases, which generally store transaction-based data that changes frequently. As a result of these constant changes, legacy data protection solutions have many drawbacks, including their inability to store numerous point-in-time snapshots and their demands on system resources.

The module is available as a premium add-on to R1Soft's flagship CDP Server product, providing data protection on both Linux and Windows platforms. Features of the module include the ability to execute Bare-Metal restorations for an entire MySQL server, the ability to back up busy MySQL Servers without interruptions and a simplified Web interface designed for both server administrators and end users.

"The native backup controllers breaks down and doesn't work for them because it has so much data," says David Wartell, CEO and founder of Righteous Software. "Our solution, because it's a near-continuous backup, will be able to turn it around for them and give them a quick backup solution that solves their problem."
