Network Insight, Cisco Offer Tool

December 11, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Network infrastructure consulting firm Network Insight (networkinsight.com) reported on Friday that it has teamed with Cisco (cisco.com) to offer a joint solution designed to address increases in data center power consumption.

According to the company's announcement, a report from Advanced Micro Devices says the consumption of electricity by data centers in the US grew by 14 percent annually between 2000 and 2005.

Cisco and Network Insight say they have developed a solution called Go Green2, combining Cisco's Data Center 3.0 platform with Network Insight's managed services. The solution offers virtualization, consolidation and load balancing in order to minimize energy and cooling costs, ensure application performance and optimize hardware investments. The managed services provide server monitoring, data center device monitoring, URL monitoring and transaction monitoring, along with an online portal providing access to reports and management tools.

"Data centers need to get a handle on electricity usage and, at the same time, find ways to supplement revenue to offset this huge increase in expenses," says Justin Piotroski, regional sales manager for Network Insight. "The Data Center 3.0 solution combined with revenue-generating managed services could be just the answer for many data centers and colocations."

The companies are hosting a live online briefing about the joint solution Thursday, December 13 at 11am Pacific time. Registration for the event is available via an online form.
