METANET Deploys IntruGuard Solution
August 24, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Network behavior analysis system provider IntruGuard Devices (intruguard.com) announced on Thursday that Switzerland-based Web hosting provider METANET (metanet.ch) has deployed its denial of service attack mitigation appliance, IG2000, to handle attacks.
The new infrastructure protects METANET's international links from DoS attacks and enables the company to better serve its customers from attacks originating from international locations.
METANET says it has 500 servers in two data centers in Zurich, serving 10,000 customers and over 25,000 domains. The international links were badly abused and affected by many DoS attacks and DDoS attacks prior to the deployment of IG2000. However, after its installation, attack traffic was automatically filtered enabling legitimate traffic through.
"Botnet and DDOS attacks have been growing and cost-conscious hosting providers like us need custom hardware based solutions that can withstand the attacks and mitigate them with the least manual intervention," says Mirco Schnarwiler, co-founder of METANET. "IntruGuard's IG2000 lets us focus on more important business priorities and is the best of the breed solution on the market for this purpose. It is the service that differentiates us in this competitive space and IntruGuard's IG2000 is an enabler."
