HostingCon Blog: All partied out

Well, we’re coming into the home stretch here, and I would say it’s been a very good conference. I had a great time shooting pool at The WHIR/RatePoint Lucky Strike event, with the guys from Spry and Tucows. Props to The WHIR for their involvement in the conference as a whole (the networking booth was a nice addition). Props to RatePoint for putting together last night’s event, even though I still have no idea what y’all do! It was the perfect last party, after getting…a little crazy Sunday night.

Yesterday, Chris Ainsworth introduced the latest component in a fairly comprehensive and generous suite of information channels for WHT members and the industry as a whole. The WHT Wiki went live, and frankly, I don’t think it got the attention it deserves. This is an opportunity for WHT members to create, shape and fine-tune a resource that will be the most authoritative documentation regarding all aspects of Web hosting and related fields. There’s nothing else like this out there, at least there’s nothing with as much potential as this tool. Think Wikipedia, but devoted entirely to the hosting industry. That’s actually a literal interpretation of what it is, only this one will allow companies to have their own profiles within it too, making it doubly valuable.

If you’re not excited about this new feature, wake up! I’m personally looking forward to contributing to it (both for the industry’s sake and my own), and I hope you are too. :)
