Hosting Security Services Firm, SAVVIS, Earns Top Placement on Analyst Report

St. Louis, Missouri - (The Hosting News) - August 30, 2007 - IT infrastructure services for business applications, SAVVIS, has been positioned by industry analyst firm Gartner, Inc. in the Magic Quadrant for Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), North America, 1H07.

Authored by Kelly Kavanagh and John Pescatore, the report follows SAVVIS being positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in the most recent Gartner Magic Quadrant report for North American Web Hosting, 2006, published August 25, 2006, and authored by Gartner analysts Ted Chamberlin and Lydia Leong.

The Gartner Magic Quadrant is widely recognized as one of the most influential benchmarks for enterprises seeking to evaluate managed security services. It evaluates vendors according to completeness of vision including overall viability, product line breadth and functionality, market responsiveness and track record as well as the ability to execute, which includes innovation and product strategy among other criteria.

Chris Richter, VP of Security Services for SAVVIS remarked, ''We are pleased to be positioned on the Managed Security Services Magic Quadrant as we think it represents additional validation for SAVVIS managed security services business. What differentiates our portfolio of managed security offerings is our breadth of delivery capabilities. We can provide and coordinate security services within our hosting data centers, in the cloud on our Tier-1 network and at our customers' premises. This approach has helped to reduce risk and streamline the IT operations of SAVVIS customers.''

Also in the report, Gartner states that the managed security service (MSS) market in North America generated revenue of approximately $500 million in 2006 and estimates that revenue will grow about 19% in 2007. Gartner estimates that, in 2006, 60% of Fortune 500 enterprises had engaged in some level of use of an MSSP, representing about 20% of enterprise firewalls under remote monitoring or management.

Mr. Richter added, ''Our security portfolio and knowledge base is also strengthened by our Arca Common Criteria Testing Laboratory, which is authorized by the National Security Agency and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This capability is especially important when you consider that all federal hardware vendors are required to have their products CCTL-certified before those products can be implemented in federal IT deployments.''

SAVVIS continues to advance its IT infrastructure services delivery platform and operational support systems throughout North America, Europe and Asia. SAVVIS currently operates 23 data centers globally encompassing more than 1.1 million square feet of space designed to support business and governmental IT operations.
