Emergent Uses 3Tera Grid Computing

September 18, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Utility computing platform developer 3Tera (3tera.com) announced on Monday it has entered into an agreement with Emergent Game Technologies (emergent.net) to integrate grid computing technologies into its next generation gaming platform. The Emergent Platform offers developers the tools, technologies and services they need to develop great games and reduce the risk in deploying and running them online, the company says.

The Emergent Platform combines best-in-class hardware with software technologies to provide studios of all sizes a complete suite of pre-integrated and tested solutions to get to market faster, the company says. 3Tera's AppLogic grid computing technology was selected to meet the scale and performance needs of the high-demand online games industry.

"As players demand richer and more interactive experiences, the infrastructure required to power new games is becoming extremely complex and expensive," says Barry X Lynn, chairman and CEO of 3tera. "We are thrilled to be working with Emergent to bring utility computing into the online gaming industry."

The Emergent Platform is a sole-source provider designed for the games industry that manages all of the hardware, infrastructure, systems and components underlying the game, providing developers an advantage in bringing its unique offerings to market, says the company.

3Tera announced last week that its chairman and CEO will be participating in a panel discussion at Tier 1's Hosting Transformation Summit at The Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
