Colocation Provider, Switch and Data, Powers XO Communications

Tampa, Florida – (The Hosting News) – July 3, 2007 – Internet exchange and colocation services company, Switch and Data, has entered into an agreement whereby XO Communications will join the PAIX VoIP Exchange marketplace, designed to enable global, end-to-end VoIP call completion.

By joining the PAIX VoIP Exchange, it is anticipated that XO will be able to exchange VoIP traffic directly with other PAIX VoIP Exchange members without relying on traditional telephone networks. In addition, XO will be able to offer members XO VoIP Origination and XO VoIP Termination services, enabling members to make and deliver VoIP calls nationwide across the public switched telephone network – all through a single connection to the XO network at the PAIX VoIP Exchange.

Mario Galvez, Vice President of product marketing at Switch and Data remarked, ”The addition of XO to our PAIX VoIP Exchange is a win-win for the marketplace- Switch and Data, XO and both companies’ customers. We are focused on leveraging our PAIX peering infrastructure and extensive choice of networks and applications to provide the ideal environment for VoIP providers. XO will immediately be able to execute VoIP calling origination and termination while also leveraging the marketplace of service providers supporting VoIP and the density of networks available in our data centers.”

Switch and Data’s facilities are hoped to serve as neutral marketplaces where users and providers of VoIP related services colocate and may realize cost savings and greater efficiencies through the density of networks for interconnection to suppliers, customers and other VoIP providers.

Don MacNeil, Vice President of Operations of XO Carrier Services added, ”VoIP peering continues to grow as the popular platform for service providers to exchange traffic at interconnection points with large communities of interest. Through the PAIX VoIP Exchange, XO can cost-effectively exchange IP voice traffic and offer members a single point of access to the broad, nationwide reach of our network and services.”

Switch and Data is a provider of Internet exchange and colocation services. Based in Tampa, Florida, Switch and Data operates one of the largest footprints of neutral Internet exchange and colocation facilities in North America serving more than 850 customers. Switch and Data’s PAIX is recognized worldwide as the premier name in peering and Internet exchange services and is home to one of the largest commercial exchange points in North America.
