Attenda Hosts Rugby Fan Web site

September 13, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Managed services provider Attenda (attenda.net) announced on Thursday that it is hosting the Rugby Football Union's new Follow England Web site (rfu.com/2007) designed for England supporters, as the 2007 Rugby World Cup kicked off in France last week.

The company says it has been managing the main RFU Web site for four years, but the England supporters' Web site is a new offshoot project that has specifically been launched for the Rugby World Cup 2007. Operation and management of the new site is part of a three-year contract renewal with Attenda.

The solution includes deployment of Akamai Technologies' global content distribution network, with shared storage and shared firewalls, providing the RFU with the on demand scalability to meet the peaks in site traffic expected during the RWC 2007.

"We have developed a strong partnership with Attenda and rely upon their high quality Web applications managed service to provide our customers with the optimum online experience," says Mike Morris, network manager for RFU. "Attenda was able to deliver an on demand highly scalable solution for our innovative Follow England Web site, enabling us to bring the site online in time for the start of England's 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign."

On Monday, Attenda signed a five-year contract with UK-based international development charity Christian Aid to host and manage its new corporate Web site.
