365 Main Opens Oakland Facility

September 13, 2007 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center operator 365 Main (365main.com) announced on Thursday that along with the City of Oakland, California, it will co-host the official opening of 365 Main's second Bay Area facility. The 111,000-square-foot building is located near Jack London Square, less than 10 miles from 365 Main's founding data center in San Francisco, California.

365 Main acquired the Oakland facility in January and leased one-third of its space within the following 90 days. Since then it has invested significantly in electrical and mechanical infrastructure and has continued to sell space as it has become available. Independent blogging software and services company Six Apart has been a tenant at 365 Main's San Francisco data center for nearly two years and has recently expanded its footprint to the Oakland facility.

"While we've enjoyed tremendous leasing activity at the Oakland building since day one, we've made significant upgrades to meet our strict standards for power, cooling, connectivity and security," says Chris Dolan, 365 Main CEO. "We look forward to offering an 'up close and personal' view inside a modern data center facility. The building isn't entirely finished, but demand is so high that the decision to officially open our doors for business was an easy one."

The company also announced that several connectivity providers, including AboveNet and IP Networks, have decided to extend their networks and have laid fiber from 365 Main's San Francisco data center to the new building in Oakland. For existing customers that lease additional space across the bay, the fiber provides access to the more than 20 connectivity providers at the San Francisco facility.

365 Main announced last month that it has been selected as a guest host for a data center tour at the Site Uptime Network's Fall Conference, held September 23 to 26 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
