There are many fun things to do in San Diego, but the most famous of all the attractions of “America’s finest city” is the San Diego Zoo. But what’s the big deal about the San Diego Zoo? Why is it famous?
It is big, with thousands of animals representing over 650 species spread out over 100 acres. Perhaps even more impressive, its feature attractions include a rare giant panda exhibit, and with the opening of an Australian exhibit in 2013, the San Diego Zoo now boasts the largest number of koalas outside of Australia.
It has a tour bus and aerial tram, and even an allegedly pleasant restaurant. The Zoo is also a prominent research center, and pioneered open-air exhibits re-creating natural habitats.
Speaking of past accomplishments, the first video ever posted to Youtube was filmed at the San Diego Zoo.
Ah, an oldie, but a goodie!
Not far (about 4 miles) from the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, the official hotel of HostingCon Global 2015, a taxi ride to the zoo should take just over ten minutes. One-day passes are $48, or $53 with a film pass, and for those with a car, parking is free.
Even if you live near a zoo, visitors to San Diego with any interest in animals owe themselves a trip to this famous attraction. There are many other exciting attractions in the San Diego area, some of which will be getting a treatment here soon. Of course, we’ll all be so busy working, networking, learning, and making deals that we won’t have time for any fun at all, will we?
