While You’re In San Diego: Marina District and Seaport Village

Add Your Comments

While the Gaslamp Quarter is a famous San Diego neighborhood literally down the street from HostingCon Global 2015, the Marina District hosts the industry-leading convention, and is a popular San Diego neighbourhood in its own right. The Marina District includes the San Diego Convention Center and the Marriott Marquis & Marina, but also includes a range of attractions and hideouts to enjoy while at HostingCon.

Within the Marina District is the Embarcadero, a strip along San Diego Bay where several of the city’s impressive museums are located, and several fine restaurants, including in the official hotel. The Embarcadero connects the Convention Center area with the second most famous area of the city (after the Gaslamp Quarter); Seaport Village.

Seaport Village is also considered part of the Marina District, and it will take you about 10 minutes by foot or a few minutes on the green transit line to get there. Practically right beside Seaport Village Station is the Kansas City Grill, where the bar scenes of Top Gun were filmed, with happy hour specials every day from 3:30 to 6:30. Seaport Village itself is a 14-acre waterfront complex encompassing miles of cobblestone and early 20th-century style waterfront lined with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

While San Diego has a lot to offer sightseers, shoppers, and networking professionals hungry and thirsty, most of it is concentrated near HostingCon. Most of the main attractions of the city are found either in the Gaslamp Quarter or the Marina District. This makes HostingCon a great opportunity to network, and also to discover a vibrant city, so register while the Early Bird discount still applies!
