(The Hosting News) – Hosting provider Rackspace is launching a new cloud network – on Monday announcing that the platform would be based on OpenStack.

“This cloud network will run the Rackspace public cloud – the largest OpenStack-based public cloud in the world – at global scale, creating a networked cloud of clouds through which service providers are linked together behind the scenes,” noted the company’s Scott Sanchez via the Rackspace blog.

Meanwhile, the provider referred to the move as a “major step in helping OpenStack gain wider adoption.” The service will be deployed via a “service provider data center” and serve telcos along with what the company said were “large service providers.”
