(The Hosting News) – The i2Coalition, an organization representing a number of hosting providers on integral issues, on Tuesday issued a statement regarding an upcoming meeting by the House Intelligence committee. The following is from i2Coalition co-founder David Snead who heads the group’s Public Policy Committee:

“The Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) objects to the closed door hearing by the House Intelligence Committee on the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA).  Ensuring the security of the Internet involves more than national security.  Recent Internet attacks have, by and large, taken place against commercial networks.  Privacy, stability and accessibility issues must be discussed in an open and frank manner.  The i2Coalition believes that cybersecurity legislation can be done right only when all stakeholders share in the legislative process.  A bottom up process in which all stakeholders participate is the only way to ensure a secure, open and competitive Internet.”
