(The Hosting News) – Integral web issues could be addressed with the current 113th Congress. Meanwhile, a key group representing a number of tech providers is hoping to work with Washington to ensure that a free and open web is maintained.

On Friday, the group known as the i2Coalition (Internet Infrastructure Coalition) detailed its participation in a program alongside a bipartisan group of lawmakers including Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA).

Also participating in the Education program will be Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian and i2Coalition Board Chair Christian Dawson.

The event will run from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM on Wednesday, February 27th – also Internet Advocacy Day.

A broader number of tech providers will maintain presences during the event. Included among them are cPanel, Black Lotus, Firehost, FortressITX, Handy Networks, Rackspace, WiredTree and others.

Earlier this month, Board Chair Christian Dawson emphasized that his group could work with lawmakers to develop internet-related legislation.

“The development of strong cybersecurity structure needs to be truly voluntary and one that fosters a multi-stakehoder process. It is that process that brings together active participants in all aspects of the Internet’s infrastructure and one that reaches consensus on policies that ensure there is no better place to do business on the Internet than the United States,” Dawson commented in a previous statement.

In the recent past, online advocates expressed concern over legislation including the Protect IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act – both shelved following an outcry of opposition.
