(The Hosting News) – Colo provider CyrusOne on Thursday announced that phase 1 of its Houston data center was operational.

The facility features 40 thousand square feet of commissioned space – part of an overall 160 thousand square feet expansion.

“The increasing volume of data in the oil and gas industry has led leaders of these businesses to look to IT solutions providers to help optimize the data capture, analysis, and decision-making process,” stated company CTO Kevin Timmons via a press release.

“CyrusOne’s Houston West campus is optimized for high-value processing of seismic exploration data with best-in-class data center power systems and redundant cooling architectures.”

Upon its final completion, the data center will feature power capacity of between 60 to 70 megawatts. The first phase of the Houston location began in September and features a massively modular design.

Cyrus One has other data centers in locations including Dallas, Austin, Chicago, San Antonio, Cincinnati and Singapore.
