Management Track Packed With Expertise

The Management Track at HostingCon Global 2015 features ten sessions with individuals or panels with specific expert knowledge about the tough questions currently facing hosting and cloud service providers. Beginning on Monday morning with tech lawyer David Snead and wrapping up late Wednesday morning with Kenny Li of Cloud Spectator on Understanding the Value of Performance in the Cloud.

I highly recommend checking out David Snead in conversation with the WHIR’s Cheryl Kemp just a couple of months ago. They discuss legal threats service providers can face, as well as the FCC’s net neutrality vote.

When I spoke to Jeff King, Go Daddy General Manager of Hosting, Commerce and Security, for The WHIR, about his company’s decision to shelve the company’s control panel in favor of cPanel, we talked about it in terms of the familiar question of “Build or Buy?” Heartland Ross of eBridge Marketing will present a different approach to the same issue, by examining each as a case study

King will discuss the benefits of OpenStack adoption on Monday afternoon. The new version of Ubuntu released last week is the first major operating system to offer production-ready OpenStack Kilo, another indication of the traction the open source cloud software has already gained.

Other management issues in the program include successfully bridging the gender gap, the proliferation of DIY websites and how to make the change work for your company, and the opportunities for partnerships between Cloud ISVs and providers of tools, platforms, and other services to deliver the benefits of the cloud to SMBs.

The other three session tracks will each be explored here in the blog, and as more details are revealed the Management Track will get a closer look. Exhibition Hall is filling up (more on that soon too), and as the San Diego Padres are well into their season, don’t forget to register before Early Bird rates expire!
