If so... please let me know. moz. huck 05-01-2001, 11:50 AM I had the same question but never got a response. So, I went ahead on my own and dove into installing CF. Relevant System Specs Cobalt Raq4 256MB of RAM Apache/1.3.12 Cobalt (Unix) Installation is a Snap I downloaded the trial version of ColdFusion Server Pro. 4.51 sp2 (linux version). You have to know how to unzip and untar files, but after that it is a piece of cake. Simply run the cfinstall script and your ready to go. When CF asks for the document root, I used the servers primary site's web space. This location is where the CF admin control panels and documentation will be placed. Alternatively, you could set up a user directory for CF and put them there. Make sure you run CF as Nobody or equivalent. Total time: 30 minutes  Logging In and Database Connection Test I logged into to the admin control panel and easily setup and verfied a connection to the mysql test database. This uses the Merant ODBC MySQL driver. Monitoring Since CF has only been installed for a day with no applications, I can not offer any more input. However, so far it works with no problems. Since the CF control panels are based on the CF server engine, I would assume applications will work as well. Honu 05-24-2001, 03:51 AM Aloha, was curious how it is going if ya still have cf installed ?? huck 05-24-2001, 01:25 PM We are wrapping up our application and will be moving it to the Cobalt over the weekend. Our app was developed on a generic linux box (Red Hat) but as far as I can tell the implementation should be the same. Well post results here by mid next week after we get some user input. webbcite 07-09-2001, 11:23 AM Any feedback on your installation Huck? Just curious to see how things are going with CF express on your RAQ. huck 07-09-2001, 11:33 AM We are using CF 4.5 not CF Express. There have been no problems, but the CF server is not heavilly loaded. The CF apps are used for behind the scenes management functions. We upped the RAM to 256MB -- would recommend more if you are using CF a lot. Note, we only have one main site on the server. There are a couple of affiliated smaller sites but the server is mainly dedicated to a single site that has about 250,000 page views/month. Lah_Lah 08-17-2001, 11:41 PM I want to use CF express with Mysql, anyone got experience? 1. performance 2. reliablilities 3. stabablities 4. others..... thanks |
