Hi All,

Net Whistle (http://www.netwhistle.com) is shutting down their 'free' Online Site/Server monitoring system. I wondered wether or not anyone knows of another free service like this?

Its convenient to be able to montior your webservers uptime (from multiple backbones) as well as your upstream providers Name Servers.

I found another MS at http://www.webmastersolutions.com/ but it costs.

Anyone know of anything free?

Moz,

I know of two others one is www.qwkmon.com the other is serverrat.com. I think both of them will monitor select services on your site at 1 hour intervals for free. Anything more frequent then that requires a fee I think.

Thanks for that info...

Just to clarify one of your links in case someone else read's this post: http://www.qwkmon.com is the correct url for the first one you mentioned.

Thanks,

moz.

I've noticed from our log files that many of our clients use http://www.internetseer.com. I haven't tried them myself, but it looks like it's a free service.

They Charge $14.99 per month unfortunately but the good news is that you can sign up for a free 8 hour block of monitoring.

ArsDigita, http://uptime.arsdigita.com/uptime/about.tcl, polls your domain at 15 minutes interval, and it is free. I have used it for years and belive it will remain free.

I have been using Internetseer for some time, and can confirm that they provide a free server monitoring service. You can also subscribe for a fee, in which case you will be able to use some of their more advanced features, which are not available to freeloaders.

If you have another machine, e.g. a home computer with an always on connection or two raqs, you can use big-brother to monitor your machines. I have it setup to email my cell phone. Works great.

Setup is not for the faint of heart -- it is pretty easy but it is all command line based.
