Hi,

our client is not able to browse Smartermail, Plesk panel etc. frequently they got disconnected from SQL enterprise manager, & webmail loading windows showing on Mozilla Firefox but it not load properly. at the same time it is working at my ends.

they have provided us tracert , ping report & everything is ok. there is no connection drops in ping & tracert report.

then i logged into Windows Server 2008 R2 through remote desktop
& pinging to client's local ISP and it is coming request timeout & connection drops after 8th hops. While i pinging & tracert to my local ISP, it is coming fine.

So what could be the issue, Our clients ISP getting request time out & connection drops after 8th hops ? Does their blocked on window server firewall ?? if so how can i remove & add to whitelist

We are using Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

System Type : 64bit Operating System.

And we have enabled Windows Firewall with Advance Security

Please advice further.

if the client is having static ip try adding it to exception list. Also an easy test will be to disable firewall for a limited time and ask client to try connecting, so as to verify if its firewall issue

ok in windows firewall properties.. it will list the ports and services, selecting the rqeuired serveice for exampel.. if mssql remote is ther, it will either be set for mssql or create a rule for sql

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc646023.aspx this may help you

SQL server access is already allowed even clients is also able to get connected, but the problem is it frequently got disconnect.

in a simple way i could say i wish to add their local ISP in our server window firewall with advance security that's it.

because client's ISP is coming request time while i pinging from the server.

It does not look like Windows Firewall issue to me.
Where's the location of your customer? It could be their internet connection is not stable.
Also check ram & cpu usage on the server.

Sounds like ISP issues. Not good sustained connections.

I would suggest:
try to ping client from your server by IP and name /for a while/
then do the same but from a different IP /from your servers's net for example or from your own PC/
At the same time do the reverse /ping your server from different IP's, by name and IP/

See and compare the results /make sure you don't test it just for 20 sec/.
You mentioned that the ping/traceroute drops after the 8th hop - ping the gateway of the client the same way as described above, see what results are you going to get.
Check if that 2008 server is not overloaded, also check if there is any pattern when the client is having problems. Does the client always have problems problems or just at a certain days/time of the day.
Also - when did the problem start, was it working fine before and all of a sudden problems started arising ? If so what did they changed/installed or you changed/installed?
Is the client having problems with remote connections in general?

Just some questions after answering which you are probably going to have a better idea where the problem lies....let us know
