I have two nameservers. I have been able to set them for domains who have been registered at Stargate/Register.com/Melbourne IT etc. but not at Opensrs. These nameservers have been in operation since Dec 02. Any reasons why so?

The last time I was on Opensrs, I did not have any problem setting up nameservers. The only thing is that the main domain must be hosted on Opensrs to be able to do that set up.

By the way, what were the error messages ?

I am not sure if you could set up the same name servers on two different hosts ? I may be wrong since I have not tried it as yet.

Error message was 'not able to find the nameserver'. I was setting ns1.chandigarhbiz.com as the nameserver. You can see it is a valid nameserver.

Yup, you are right, it is a valid nameserver and pingable.

OpenSRS would do a lookup prior to allowing you to add a nameserver and for some reason, it is not doing its job. Why don't you write to OpenSRS and have them manually add those Nameservers for that domain name.

The last time I had trouble with the .biz type domain names and they had to manually include it.

There are probably some bugs at their end which has not been worked out yet.

Actually I was setting this nameserver for a biz domain. etests.biz

I see. I guess they have not resolved that issue with the .biz domain names as yet. You will have to contact them to have that included in manually for now.

I had too much trouble with that because they marketed the .biz domain names but the system somehow does not allow me to add nameservers to that so I moved my business to GoDaddy which does not have any problem with it.

Try to add ns1.chandigarhbiz.com to your .biz domain name and it will work... Any OpenSRS reseller can add your name server to the .biz registry for you.

I have just sent the feedback to the Opensrs people. Hope they resolve this issue.

Your nameserver ns1.chandigarhbiz.com reverts to IP 64.141.71.93. There is NO reverse lookup configured for 64.141.71.93.

This would be your first thing to fix. *NO* nameserver can run correctly if you have no reverse setup and most registrars check for reverse lookup. This may be where your error is occuring but regardless of that get your reverse setup and working for your nameserver.

cheers

I was interested in this post as I am having exactly the same problems with a .uk.com nameserver and 123-reg.co.uk. Every time I try to change a domain to those nameservers I get an error "unable to verify existence of nameserver xxxxxx.uk.com" - even though the nameservers are registered and in use by other domains registered with them - very annoying.
