Hi,
We are considering opening up a nice reseller plan at HostCaters. I would like feedback from potential resellers on this idea.
Instead of having a specific "reseller plan" that you have to buy..we are going to allow any plan 50MB or up to qualify. There will be a one-time-fee of $50.00.

Ive seen many resell plans that are being charged at a rate of 35.00, 50.00, and 75.00 just for the resellers account, per month.

I would like to stay with quarterly plans (or semi annual, annual) for resellers.

To get started, one would need to pay 59.85 for the 3 month plan, and a 50.00 one time fee. Total to start would be 109.85. You could then purchase at 50% off?

Would potential resellers RATHER pay a bigger monthly fee, OR the one time fee?

Feedback appreciated...or you can email me

Martie,

It basically depends on how you structure your Reseller plans. Some hosts have plans where the main Reseller account is charged $50.00+ per month but additional resold accounts are like $5 to $10 per month. Others will charge $30.00+ per month but additional resold accounts would be at tiered pricing based upon the volume sold. And finally there are some that will pay a flat fee for referrals without requiring any hosted website. All of the above will work depending on your base target and growth outlook. Which ever method you choose make sure you account for all costs (bandwidth, server rentals or co-location fees, personnel for support and so on) then add in your profit margin. Base any monthly fees, or percentages off of this figure so you will end up profitable.

Pricing is not always the determining factor for potential Resellers, as long as its within reason, support and availability is the biggest concern that I have seen for potential Resellers. So if you can provide that and your pricing is within reason you will be ok.

Good luck!!
