How would i create nameservers on register.com.

Say i wanted to create the nameservers:

ns1.bogus.com
ns2.bogus.com

How would i go about doing this from the register.com control panel, or would i have to e-mail register.com and ask for nameserver creation?

Presuming those two nameservers already exist and have DNS entries....

go to www.register.com
click on Manage My Account
log in to your account in the Domain Manager
click on Modify DNS at the top of the page
click the Delete boxes for the name servers that you currently have, and enter the names of your new name servers in the empty text fields.
say that you would like to make the changes. Then close your browser.
you'll get an email in a minute or two, click on the link in the email to confirm the change. (there may be one more step after you click the link, but I don't remember for sure. In any case, just follow the instructions on the screen.)

Give it a day or so for the new nameservers to propagate, and you should be all set.

If you want to use register.com's name servers, you can set A, CNAME MX and SOA records via register.com's Domain Manager screens. For some reason, they don't allow you to set PTR records.

If the nameserver you're inserting has never been registered, you will be prompted for its IP.

If you're very unlucky you'll have an IP that used to belong to someone else before you, was running a nameserver and did not delete his records when he released that IP.

If this happens you'll have to contact Register.com's support.

Best regards.
