View Full Version : Fighting Child Porn....
Tom Pyles 12-25-2002, 02:35 AM Hate to bring everybody down on Christmas :( Got my usual amount of SPAM today, however, something was a little different. I received a SPAM that had child porn images in it. I viewed the source and got 3 different urls out of it. I didn't visit those sites, but it was obvious what they were by the content in the e-mail and the domain names themselves. Ran them through whois and came up with a Ukraine registrant and a Ukraine host (also had the same information as the registrant for the domains).
Now...what can be done about something like this...I've always considered myself a 'tough guy', but this crap turns my stomach...Where would one turn, particularly dealing with something in Ukraine.
susannad 12-25-2002, 04:20 AM oh Tom how absolutely terrible
and here I am thinking that most of the spam I get is hilariously funny if it weren't so annoying
what can you do ? I don't know but someone must !!!!
The Ukraine is subject to the same laws as the rest of the world isn't it ??
Can someone please tell Tom what he can do ?
How sickening .. I really feel quite sick
Alan - Vox 12-25-2002, 04:50 AM You can get jailed for just looking at it if you are in the UK, be very carefull.
susannad 12-25-2002, 04:55 AM but is there anything that anyone can do ?
I mean who hosts this filth ? what server is it ? I'm assuming they don't know what's going on

Since I was born and lived in Ukrain, I can tell you that you can't do anything about it BUT not to visit the site. Internet regulation is definitely the last thing on their list.
susannad 12-25-2002, 06:56 AM Internet regulation is definitely the last thing on their list. well that's just about turned me off everything ukranian .. is this the result of knocking down the berlin wall (I have a litle piece of it) put the wall back up if this is all they can do .. selling prostitution on the net and now sending vile disgusting child porn spam
but there must be something legal that can be done .. where did the email come from ? and how did it get to Tom ?
and I'm in your position aussiebob .. and I know what I'd do if I could get near these scum
progex 12-25-2002, 08:54 AM Report this immediately to: www.ASACP.org
Darth 12-25-2002, 09:13 AM Theres been quite a few people arrested here in the last few months in the uk..
susannad 12-25-2002, 09:27 AM progex has an answer
thanks
vile scum (not you progex)
Tom Pyles 12-25-2002, 09:48 AM Thanks for the replies gang (progex, thanks for the link). I was careful not to look at it, and certainly did not visit the sites...I just cut the code up in the e-mail and researched the urls included in it...I will research it some more...Here, we have done some work with local law enforcement for things like this, but never out of the country where the slime are somewhat protected (for now)...The first thing I did was call the detective we work with here to see what she would recommend.....and there isn't a whole lot local law enforcement can do with a site in Ukraine. Thank you all again!!!
That's truely disgusting..
michaeln 12-25-2002, 11:59 AM goto domainwhitepages.com and put in their domain. On the DNS lookup it should tell you who owns the IP block the site is on. If it is on a server in the US, Canada, UK or just about anywhere but the Ukrain you can turn it in to that government. Or at the least turn it in to the providing host which probably doesn't know it is on their server.
wowewo 12-25-2002, 12:05 PM Send info to the host and the ISP that provides the connectivity to the host.
You probably will have better luck if you contact the connectivity provider.
susannad 12-25-2002, 05:59 PM and more good advice
I've taken a note of all this too in case *shudder* this ever gets near me
The Dude 12-25-2002, 06:58 PM I dont think there IS anyway to stop it :( They use that "free speech"thing if you try to get them off... :(
I dunno, just try and ignore it and report all of them to These dudes (www.asacp.org) I dunno what else to say about it
The Dude :(
DotComster 12-25-2002, 07:44 PM I reported such a site/person to FBI.gov - they ignored me and the links, pics and evidence I sent them. They did however contact my boss - and ask him about my charecter, Great - I got early retirment!!!
CDHost 12-26-2002, 01:00 PM Definately don't visit the sites... you could be arrested in the US just for going there. Try contacting your local Buerau of Investigation (here it's the GBI (georgia b of i)) or the FBI directly. I believe they have a child pornography unit that is incharge of investigating and having these sites shut down. It can't hurt to let them know :) Best of luck getting these scum bags shut down!

Neither the FBI nor any local state authorities can do anything about it, and reporting it to them will do nothing but waste the time of some investigator who could instead be dealing with a site that US-based law enforcement actually can do something about.
