This isn't for me, but I was emailed a message to post on the boards for a package request (due to not being able to post to the forums) . Please list offers here.
Hello,
I'm a WebTV (http://www.webtv.com/products/plus/specs.html) user looking for a pay host for a small personal site. WebTV users cannot download or upload files. WebTV users are able to copy files from one host to another.
In summary, I'm looking for:
10 MB of disk storage space
5 GB/mo. data transfer
domain hosting
web-based file manager
file "mover"
CGI and SSI support
costs of about $60 per year
The host should have a web-based file manager, similar to the ones offered by:
Angelfire
Geocities
Tripod
The web-based file manager should not be one we would have install ourselves (most WebTV users wouldn't know how) as the ones found at:
Gossamer (http://www.gossamer-threads.com/perl/fileman/manage.cgi)
FileMgr (http://www.speakeasy.org/~cgires/sitemgr/)
Genesis (http://www.xav.com/scripts/genesis/index.html)
CGI Resources (http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/File_Management/)
The host should provide a means for the transferring of files from the current host to the new host, similar to the following on-line services:
The Freeloader (http://domania.net/freeload/)
The Transloader (http://www.transloader.com/)
Cap'n'Fila (http://capnfila.com/Scripts/FTS/)
As some know, WebTV users like to include images in e-mail signatures. The host should allow hot linking. Understandably, all the major "free" hosts mentioned above are no longer allowing hot linking to images because it uses their bandwidth without the viewer seeing their ads.
So far, I know of two pay hosts that are WebTV "friendly."
Domania (http://domania.net/)
WTV-Zone (http://wtv-zone.com/)
I wonder if these are the only options we have without having to purchase a computer.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.
