Anyone have one of the $50 dedicated servers with Server Outsource? If you do, please post your experiences. I am especially interested in opinions of tech support.

I am especially interested in opinions of tech support. thanks clocker1996 12-24-2002, 04:21 PM yeah im kind of waiting until they are cogent-free until I get one. hehe modoc 12-24-2002, 06:41 PM they said that the $50 server would not use coggent. eddy2099 12-24-2002, 06:59 PM It seems that I read the statement in this thread :- http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=98000 As to mean that the $50 server would not be on Congent until the peering issue with Cogent is being resolved. Which probably means that the non-congent arrangement is temporary and would revert back when the problem is resolved. Thus it is still a cogent solution. modoc 12-24-2002, 07:04 PM the ServerOutsource rep says that any $50 server bought now would be placed on Aleron, and would not be moved from Aleron. But if the cogent issue is resolved, then any server purchased after the fix will be on cogent. ======================== fgordts, Forevere is a long time. We could get bought out, Aleron could go out (God, I hope this never happens), etc. But yes, it will stay on Aleron. ========================= eddy2099 12-24-2002, 07:09 PM Cool. Thanks for the clarification. modoc 12-24-2002, 07:15 PM Originally posted by eddy2099 Cool. Thanks for the clarification. Glad to help. Now, back to the original reason for the thread. Does anyone want to post their experiences with this company, network, customer service, technical support? Any info would be helpful. BiGWill 12-24-2002, 08:07 PM i just had presales contact with them, but they were more then helpfull and willing to work sth. out with me ... that's what i call good business ppl :) best regards, lotuslnd 12-25-2002, 02:19 PM Yeah, I have one of the $50 machines with them. The first week I got it, there were two probles with Aleron, but since then I've seen none. The box is great, as is support. Tickets get responded to within an hour or two. No complaints what so ever. modoc 12-25-2002, 03:52 PM How long did it take them to provision the box, do they offer remote console/reboot? lotuslnd 12-25-2002, 04:42 PM It took < 48 hours for the box to be provisioned. They might have remote reboot, but I don't have one. You'd have to contact them to find out. molex 12-26-2002, 12:43 AM Just be careful on that box they charge a $25 per spam complaint so if your formmail or anything gets exploited or one of your NEW hosting customers spams they charge you $25 per complaints -- thats 50% of the server cost ridiculous . I think they make money thatway too . modoc 12-26-2002, 01:50 AM thats an interesting policy timesroman 12-26-2002, 03:45 AM If a server got cracked or even a script exploited, wouldn't that result in hundreds of complaints all about the same incident? Would they try and charge someone $2,500+ if their server got cracked or a form-to-mail script was exploited?
