What do you think of a web host that shuts off access to the website log files? I should add that this host has gotten pretty good reviews here in the past. One of the reasons I chose them.

When I signed up several months ago I had this access from the control panel. Just recently I needed to track some visitors and found that when I downloaded the file it was empty. My webhost responded to my trouble ticket fairly quickly by tersely stating they had been deleted because they were too big.

This is BS as I do not have that many visitors, perhaps an average of 5 or 6 a day. Lets just say that downloading a couple of months records was probably less than 300K. I have asked for an explanation and to have them turned on. I got dead silence. I escalated the ticket to high priority and now have discovered that there are no unresolved tickets. I think this is crappy service, which seems to be a standard for this host. I am otherwise satisfied with them however.

What do you think, should I move on to a different host? I can't do so right now, but will be able to in a couple of weeks.

It's BS if they advertise log file access. Try sitemeter.com I not only offer log file access to my users, I also offer wusage.
