I am currently enrolled in a web development course. My program deals mostly with ASP.NET and Oracle, but my current VPS which hosts me and my clients runs Linux. It's expensive, takes time to maintain but I need it.

For school, I need to make my work live, so I will need hosting which can support web application - cause it will all mostly be ASP.NET - and Oracle.

I can't use my current server since it's Linux, and I only have so much money to spend for hosting (i'm a student and already paying large fees for my VPS), so I am looking for a decently cheap hosting company. I will only need the hosting for maybe one year, and it doesn't need to be anything special. There will be little to no traffic, besides for my classmates and professors.

Thanks for your help!

I highly recommend godaddy.com they offer the best prices and their support is real good.

That is a joke, Don't listen to that. If you are looking for a quality host that is going to offer you a decent rate and great support go to speedysparrow.com

I've been with them almost 4 months and they truly have their priorities straight. Plus, GoDaddy was breaking the law and still might be with the "backorder" domain scheme that they were pulling.

Good luck!

Yes I agree, I wouldn`t go with Godaddy. Their services are fine, but I used to run into problems with them.

I`m looking into speedysparrow.com and I don`t believe their servers support ASP.NET

I`m looking into speedysparrow.com and I don`t believe their servers support ASP.NETI appreciate Matt's recommendation, though, we do not offer Windows webhosting solutions at this current time, though, we do support the use of ASP.NET under our networks through the "Mono Project", though, if you are after full control of windows resources then a windows provider will better support your requirements as it is harder to customize ASP.NET under a linux platform. :)

If you have low budget and need windows hosting you can try to do some search on the forums.asp.net or request free quote using find a host tool here.

I have been using happy-hosting company and advise you to use them to satisfy all your demands, itziklevy.
They provide shared hosting both on Linux and Windows platforms and they have done it qualitatively.

Most of the shared windows plans support ASP.net, you could find things as cheap as ixwebhosting. But I'm not sure if anyone is offering Oracle

There are tons of shared asp.net hosting providers, however, I think you may be hard pressed to find one that supports Oracle. Most asp.net web developers simply use MS SQL or MS Access.

If you do a Google search you will find plenty. In many cases, it will cost you more as an add-on though. I personally think if you go with MS SQL, you'll be fine. I randomly tried Windows hosting one time with my host and I do remember ASP.NET being available so that could be a viable option.

I've personally never seen Oracle software though.

HostDime has some nice shared Windows Plans. Are you interested in just going for a Linux shared hosting account with an ASP addon installed?

Godaddy's support is good but their service is not good, server is not protected. a lot of virus/malware attack to their server, sometimes the sever is down and problem to accessing the control panel...

Maybe use a home PC with Windows and the free version of Oracle.

You may not get with Oracle as back end database storage. Most of the host supply windows based hosting with MySQL, MS SQL & MS ACCESS. If you have this specific requirement of ASP.NET with Oracle DB then you may need to search through and find but still it may be expensive host. Post us here if you have found a host with this requirement may be helpful for others too.

Check whether Oracle free-version can be used commercially but it can also store only up-to 4GB i suppose. If you do not find a single host with combination of these then select a ASP.NET host and Oracle DB host separately and connect your DB to web application. Please check with the Oracle DB service provider whether they allow you connect from outside (external network) to the DB.

It will be hard to find ASP.NET web hosting with Oracle support. You could as well try using SQL back-end i.e. if you are about to take project. If thats the project decisions already to go for oracle, then you may need to get a shared web hosting or hosting with managed services. You could go for Oracle express edition if some host willing to setup up. VPS could be costly, but since you intend to use for project you get complete control on your server space using VPS.
