Any one going besides me? I will take all my customers out for a night of fun ;) if you can let me know you will be there. If enough people are going to be there we ought to get everyone together for some type of industry roundtable for a few hours and hoist a few one evening.

I went to the expo when it came to San Francisco and I'm afraid to say that I wasn't too impressed.

You're not going to ever get anything useful from such events, other than to possibly make some contacts with some people or maybe get the info about some new thing up and coming a few days before the rest of the world knows.

It's mainly just to be geeky or if you're interested and is something to do that you can use to take a trip somewhere, spend a few days and use the trip (aka vacation) as a tax write off -- or to get away from the office if your employer sends you and pays for the trip (so you get paid to lounge or play).

It goes without saying that this is the ultimate function of any event, expo, etc. that involves such things. Even music equipment expos like NAMM, people just go to get away and get paid for it. So it sounds good to me, but I've never known such things to be educational or really that interesting. If you've seen one booth, you've seen them all. :-)

Unfortunately I won't be there. I tried to go to the GeekCruise a few months ago but my wife refused... said I wouldn't spend any time with her if we went :)

I'm trying to talk her into going on a GeekCruise sometime next year... :D

If nothing else - isn't the famous Scores that howard stern talks bout in NYC? That may be worth the trip alone.....chuckles....blushes....hehehehe

It's during finals, so I can't go anyway. :(

Hmmm. I was thinking of taking vacation around this time as I'm working right through the holidays. Maybe I'll consider this!
