How does it look tacky?I have seen some Amazing hosts with not really amazing sites but they still give u the best hosting service anywere! If u just dont want to go with them...<<MODERATOR EDIT>>

Well, if a site is designed well, if it's presented well, their service will probably be as well. If I see a site that is poorly designed, I feel their service is poorly served, etc. It's like they don't have enough money to hire a graphic designer for a few thousand dollars, I'm suspicious.

***** crushes my theory though, I hate them.

I recently set up an account with Weinbar to handle some critical stuff with low resource requirements. Here is an excerpt of my support log (times are EDT):

Sunday Apr 22 9:55am - I submit a support question via help desk form
Sunday Apr 22 9:56am - receive email robot acknowledgement
Sunday Apr 22 10:00am - receive first progress report on my problem. Essentially I found a bug in cpanel. No big deal, I can work around it. Progress report says they are submitting the bug to the vendor.
Sunday Apr 22 10:02am - I submit another support question.
Sunday Apr 22 10:03am - receive email robot acknowledgement
Sunday Apr 22 10:08am - questions is answered and support request is closed.

I was getting responses in just a few minutes on a Sunday! Also, keep in mind that the responses may have arrived faster than my log shows. I do not check my email continuously. :)

My prior hosting company had me "trained" to wait for a day or two before the response would show up, if it showed up at all.

Weinbar seems like the best host around for shared servers. They have the best tech support it seems and that's something I need! I am currently on *****, the worst tech support in the world, not to mention worst accounting and billing. I think they're doing something illegal over there, but I do admit I'm up most of the time, but a man can only handle enough bad tech support and the fact that they just shut me site down with no warning pisses me off. I'm gone.

Hey, I don't know about you all, but I don't think the look and feel of a website is a very reliable indicator of how well that service provider will perform.

I've been burned before (it seems most webmasters here have been burned at some point in the past) by sites that looked great. I think the key is knowing where to look for the right testimonials. Before I found this board (thank God that I did!), I was relying on the looks and the strict numbers a SP promised. I could never tell whose testimonials in the online SP directories were valid.

All I can say is do the research before you make a decision. Find someone (and preferably many people) who uses them, and ask around about support and uptime and any other issues that are important to you.

My prior hosting company was *****. I took my last site off them last week.

Now I run my own RaQ3 (4WebSpace) for lower priority stuff, and I use Weinbar for my ciritcal stuff.

Aside from puzzling out DNS configs, I'm doing OK and learning a lot. Although, and I frighten myself when I say this, DNS is starting to make sense to me. :)

I just signed up with Weinbar today. So far I have been very pleased with what I can do with the control panel. It makes doing things really easy. I got the silver package and I think that will be plenty of stuff for me.

I was also looking at hosting4less.com before but i decided to take up weinbar. When i asked enquires about sales question over at hosting4less, the email is answered within a day. They even assured me that hosting a large UBB (resource intensive) will be no problem. You can see www.vhforums.com it is hosted at hosting4less. For your info, they have a support site which is quite professionally designed in my opinion.

I'm using Hosting4Less.com on my website thats currently running UBB v5.47..

They are extremely fast, tons of space, have an excellent tech support guy (Eric).

But..

They lack a good control panel, mysql is limited, php is outdated (You'll get warnings if you try vBulletin), and no telnet/SSH. Thats the only reason why I'm looking for another host is to support vBulletin,

If you don't need those functions, Hosting4Less is the way to go. My website has never been down, speeds always optimum, Tech Support Email is always replied the same day. No problems whatsoever.

DAMN ..... the sales person told me they could handle vbulletin with 1000 post daily with no problem. I have also asked about concurrent access & they said they had it set at 100.

Luckily i chose weinbar over hosting4less for my vbulletin

Redcircle hosting you seem like a nice enough guy in chat... but please dont try to decieve people, you promoted noxrack in this post in a third party way which makes people believe your recommending them when in fact your the one who runs it.

Its against forum rules and bad business....

They didn't lie, vBulletin does work with Hosting4less, but they didn't tell ya, you'll get warning errors everytime you try to post, edit, or reply to a message, if you can live with the warnings, then no prob. (But problem smight occur later on, you'll never know)

Warnings I'm guessing because of their outdated PHP and from the vBulletin v2.0, if your using the older version of vBulletin v1.6, you'll have no problem. I just switched to venturesonline.com, no more warnings.
