View Full Version : How not to fix a pizza
Newbie 12-23-2002, 01:55 AM I love to fix DiGiorno pizza's on my Pizzazz pizza oven thingy. Well I purchased the new deep dish pizza and decided to cook it on my Pizzazz.
Big mistake, I took it out of the aluminum pie dish and placed it on the turntable. Well after 15 minutes cooking it on the bottom burner and going to check on it the sides fell and the bottom crust stuck to the turntable. So I scrapped the pizza off the turntable and placed it back in the pie pan and replaced it back on the turntable. Cooked the bottom again an additional 15 minutes then another 15 with both burners. Now the aroma of burnt something is filling the air, LOL.
I'm still trying to cook the damn thing on it though, I think it's going to suck and I will have wasted like $8.00. Thank God I bought a can of pringles chips.
Next time I will just buy the regular kind and leave the deep dish stuff to Pizza Hut.
rockergrrl 12-23-2002, 02:09 AM DiGiorno's Deep Dish pizzas are the best frozen pizzas I've ever had!!
But the best bet, is to cook them in the oven -- leave the flat pizza to the Pizzazz.
The bad thing about them though, is that it takes an hour to bake them in the oven... but d@mn are they good!!!
The grocery store just down the block had them on sale for 2 weeks for $5.99 each. Needless to say, we bought about 4 of them during that run. But they haven't had them in stock since :bawling: And the other big grocery stores want $7.99 for them... no way am I paying that much.
I personally hate Pizza Huts Chicago style pizza... tastes awful, and looks like crap as well. I'd get a DiGiorno before I'd get the Chicago style pizza again, that's for sure!!
Newbie 12-23-2002, 02:19 AM I love papajohn's but there isn't any around here. I just cut away all the burnt crust and it's pretty good. Still a little under cooked but not too bad.
jimbrown 12-23-2002, 02:48 AM We have a pizza joint around here called "Snappy Tomato Pizza" and HOTDIGGITY!, can they ever crank out a good pizza. I'm working on a good mouthful of drool just thinking about it..ahhh!!
Virago 12-23-2002, 04:09 AM At least you remembered to take the cardboard off the bottom first. You did, didn't you? :D (Learned that one the hard way, hehe!)
I like DiGiorno, Red Baron, CPK, Trader Joe's, heck even Geno's - it reminds me of school pizza when I was a kid.
Better value and usually better taste than delivery, about the same time to cook as get delivered. Depends what's on sale at the market.
Big mistake to take the hubby grocery shopping... he wants *everything* and it takes forever and you end up spending a fortune. But with a recent mishap/surgery he doesn't want me to drive one-handed. :(
Typing one-handed sucks, too.
DangerMouse 12-23-2002, 04:55 AM Best Pizza i have come across so far is from a small local italian owned pizze place called Paradise Pizzas... They are deeeliiiccious. mmmmm.
Garlic bread is to die for too.
Newbie 12-23-2002, 04:58 AM The Deep Dish doesn't have cardboard :)

I could never figure out why anyone would want some pizza cooking thingy. Or a bread baking thingy. Or a chicken baking thingy. You already have one of these, it's called an (get your pencils out and write this down) o - v - e - n.
and guess what, you also probably already have a burger cooking thingy too, and it isn't named after a boxing champ.
HostUDirect 12-23-2002, 10:02 AM What do you want on your tombstone?
I remember when Tombstone use to be my main pizza, but now its Digorno and red baron.
I had PapaJohns last night with those Chicken Strips that they serve now.. GOOD!! :D
IGobyTerry 12-23-2002, 12:15 PM You can order PapaJohn's Pizza online which is like totally cool. I don't even need to get off of my chair when I wish to order a pizza. Of course, I do have to get up when I want to pick it up though. Maybe one day I'll get a maid who can do that for me, feed it too me.... ah that would be the life.
BTW Donato's pizza is the best.
DotComster 12-23-2002, 02:21 PM I'm so unworthy - my wife's Brooklyn Italian, and I'm a none-gormet any old pizza will do for me as long as it's round as has some cheese and meat on it.
Hiccups 12-23-2002, 02:28 PM My favorite from the grocery store is Freschetta.
I always sprinkle a bit of garlic powder on the crust of any brand I make, and add extra cheese too. MMMMMM
Newbie 12-23-2002, 02:31 PM Yes the oven is nice, but let me see
1. Preheat the oven which takes oh 10 minutes or so
2. Then cook the pizza which is like another 15 minutes
3. Turn the oven off or pizza is over cooked
Pizzazz
1. place pizza on turntable set to dual burner for 15 minutes
Walk away and forget about it. No burnt pizza if I am busy. No waste of electricty to preheat or heat such a big area

I can agree with part of that, but a bread machine is in a class of its own. Now, I *have* made bread before by hand and it's a long involved process requiring a lot of work and perfect timing to come out just right.
With a bread machine you measure the ingredients, turn it on, check for proper consistency after a few minutes (temperature and humidity can affect it so sometimes you need to add a bit more flour or water), and that's it.
The machine does all the kneading, timing, baking and cooling. Perfect bread every time!
