Hope they fix this network issue! hostingsp 12-23-2002, 10:56 PM Hope they fix this network issue! 11/12/2002 @Webhost has added a new 100mbps fast-e connection to its network, giving its clients access to more carriers! @Webhost is committed to delivering high quality bandwidth to its clients. Nice.... Looks like they got another 100 MB/s it cogentco :P and looks like they are still overselling... have mercy... simplenet 12-23-2002, 10:56 PM I was told the network issue would be fixed on monday. Just checked my watch... its still monday. dbbrock1 12-24-2002, 02:13 AM Originally posted by simplenet I was told the network issue would be fixed on monday. Looks like either the new bandwidth aint gonna happen or they are not wearing a timex. It's gotta be the timex?? Asher S 12-24-2002, 02:28 AM The bandwidth HAS NOT gone in place yet, the new circuit has not been turned up. Looks like it will be turned up today. Brian S 12-24-2002, 04:47 AM Hey Asher, I'll bet you $50 it'll be Thursday before Xpedian is in. That's what I was told. Unless you have a special relationship NetFree, or Brian told you otherwise, the bandwidth folks get Tuesday and Wednesday off. If it wasn't up by Monday, it will be Thursday. I am now willing to say publicly that I am disappointed with how NetFree has handled this situation. It's a shame, because they were looking promising. I bought-in on the premise that there would be a backup for Cogent. This point was emphasized by me many times before I picked up service with Net Free. I wanted to ensure they could make profit from me with their model as it was several months ago. After this Cogent deal, I asked how long it would be before the backup was in place. Low and behold I'm notified, for the amount I'm paying, it's "Cogent straight through". I'm stuck -- with no recourse -- with a slow connection for the poor victims who happen to be routed through several locations in the U.S. All I can do now is issue credits. Not a damn thing I can do about the service. I suppose I'm partly to blame. I knew NetFree was new and likely to be a little wet behind the ears at times. But as my business was sized then, I sought out the smaller companies. They were more likely to go the extra mile. But I haven't appreciated the polite "tough luck" response I've received. I guess it depends on how you view a provider's responsibility. Part of the reason I'm not running my own little datacenter is because I want to pay for someone to deal with these issues. When the connectivity poop hits the fan, I expect a solution to be in place very quickly. The way NetFree is now, I can't even get off Cogent. I tried. Money isn't the issue -- my customers are. But they have nothing left but Cogent. So my multi-homed provider suddenly has nothing left for me except for a defective Cogent link. The last thing I want to hear is that the Cogent problem isn't "technically our problem." I pick my business partners very carefully, and their response says a lot. Brian Brian, We do have a very good relationship with NetFree and we are doing whatever we possibly can to have this turned up and functional asap. Ashar. Asher S 12-24-2002, 05:04 AM NetFree may have their fair share of problems but they are a good company. Brian S 12-24-2002, 05:15 AM Originally posted by ^Kyo NetFree may have their fair share of problems but they are a good company. I'm not saying Brian or his company is bad. I get along with Brian, and think he's a nice guy. Rather, I don't agree with his approach. My business is growing very quickly now, and I just don't feel comfortable placing my livelihood in the hands of NetFree. Brian Asher S 12-24-2002, 05:20 AM Brian, Yes, I understand your point of view, the same goes with us. You should try to be as independant of NF as possible, like hiring your own onsite techs, getting in your own bandwidth lines etc. Being dependant solely on 1 company is just plain asking for trouble ;) Ashar. If I was going to do that, I would be my own DC, or lease space out of a carrier neutral facility. But I'm not interested in such business at this point. Hence, my business needs the service of a company who handles the bandwidth. NetFree, it looks like, will not be fully meeting my needs for the reasons mentioned previously. Brian serveit 12-24-2002, 10:26 AM I take it these folks are somehow related to @webhost. I was considering picking up a couple of servers with them. Are you saying they only have one provider with no backup lines? If this is the case, I will stay with dialtone and pay the higher prices. At least I do not have downtime or line issues there. Layer3 12-24-2002, 12:37 PM dialtone is great. I worked for a dot com and we had 7 servers with them. We only expierenced one ddos while with dialtone and the network was blazingly fast and rock solid stable. They are expensive though :( serveit 12-24-2002, 12:49 PM Originally posted by underzen dialtone is great. I worked for a dot com and we had 7 servers with them. They are expensive though :( They are one of the best. 5 servers and never a second of downtime. And 700+ MBITS of TIER1 Bandwidth doesn't hurt either. Of course, that is where the price comes from. bizness 01-02-2003, 11:18 AM this looks like a classic case of.. yes sir, it will be fixed asap as soon as we know what we are doing..... |
