Had to do some management thing's on 1 of them the other day.... Try Volex.net Used them myself quite cheep. and provide a good/quick setup. HostXNow 09-18-2010, 04:01 PM What kind of site(s) are you running? Winky 09-21-2010, 06:25 PM vps.net is way cheaper than rackspacecloud, especially when you factor in the bandwidth. TheWiseOne 09-21-2010, 11:01 PM Keep in mind Rackspace Cloud is not self-healing, it is as reliable as a regular VPS. darklooker 10-11-2010, 01:02 PM vps.net provides free hostbill app., free comodo ssl certificate, free ispmanager control panel.... I prefer vps.net. ckeck 10-11-2010, 02:04 PM Could you shed some more light on the type of site/app you are looking to deploy? Do you have sys admins on staff? What level of server management are you looking for, if any? All of this will help identify which platform may be the best for you. Remember, the Rackspace Cloud has more than one hosting platform. I think you were referring to Cloud Servers but Cloud Sites could be a good fit as well. Or another platform all together depending on your specific requirements. Let us know that way we can all give you some better input. jpminus 10-12-2010, 08:23 AM Its hard to compare these two products directly. Rackspacecloud you are buying individual server instances. VPS.net you are buying a pool of resources that you can apply across several server instances. vps.net and gigenetcloud can be compared directly and I would say are truly different from a traditional VPS and most like what I would consider a cloud since you can do whatever you please with your resource cloud. Rackspace cloud servers and LW's Storm on Demand can be compared directly but in the end they are like a traditional VPS. Rackspace Cloud Sites and Media Temple gs (soon to be cs) can be compared since they are both more of a hosting platform where when working correctly your applications can span multiple servers automatically without your intervention. crazylane 10-19-2010, 10:58 PM I've tried both, but prefer Rackspace. Rackspace was easier to use and support was really good. I did ultimately end up at Linode. sshepherd 10-20-2010, 06:48 PM Hello, I would say rackspacecloud. Had to do some management thing's on 1 of them the other day.... Try Volex.net Used them myself quite cheep. and provide a good/quick setup. Did you mean Voxel.net? They're a solid host that I've worked with in the past that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. WizzSupport 10-30-2010, 05:53 AM What kinsd of services/sites you are going to load on those? Daniel, fancypocket 10-30-2010, 09:51 AM We also evaluated on rackspacecloud & vps.net. In the end, we go with gigenetcloud. |
