I am shopping for a new 3rd party processing company. And I have seen all the negative comments about Paysystems and 2checkout. I guess, based on what I have read, it’d be a toss up between whom to choose. So, I have a few questions pertaining to who is better based on setting up different options in their MCC.
What I would like to know before deciding which one to choose is:
1) Does either allow you to set discounts per plan. For example, if you wanted to run a sale on a hosting package for a certain percent off the total cost of the plan?
2) Does either allow you an option to, for example, set the first month of hosting free?
3) What is their fraud protection scheme like? In other words, does either seem to have a very high percentage of denying accounts?
4) If a customer is denied, does either company allow ‘you’ to resubmit the order, or do you have to ask the customer to resubmit their order?
5) Does either company allow you to do refunds without sending an email to the company asking to do the refund?
6) Can you do a partial refund from either MCC?
7) How do they treat chargebacks? If you submit the proper documents to prove your case, does either one fight for YOUR rights?
I did have several other questions, but they were answered in other post… Any help would be appreciated…
Merry Christmas

Ad1. PaySystems allows You to do this
Ad2. Both offer trials
Ad3. I think PaySystems denies more transactions than 2CO
Ad4. You have to ask your customer, you are not allowed to have your customers credit card details
Ad5. Yes, both allow refunds through MCC
Ad6. No
Ad7. I have no clue

2Checkout..I can speak form experience.
1. No
2. No
3. OK
4. Customer has to do it you are not allowed to enter customer data.
5. You can do the refund.
6. 2Checkout says this is coming.
7. Even if the customer writes and says it was a mistake you will be months getting the money if ever. They will even take the money from your account and charge you the fees and still charge the customers credit card and refuse to aknowledge your support request on it while the money is who knows where.
In short stay away from 2checout far far away....

We moved to paysystems about a week ago - been very good for us, and the support is excellent compared with our old provider ;)
Livechat is superb!

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have another related question. How easy is it to not charge a particular user for one month etc. (for example, if you have some referal scheme running etc.)?

Thanks Matt. I signed up today and got the test account. I have not completed the transaction yet... I think from what I have read so far, paysystems is the way to go... I just have to have something better then what I have now - and I think you know what that is ;)
Merry Christmas to all and thanks for making up my mind...

With 2checkout all you can do is refund them once charged or cancel the recurring billing and make them sign up again.
