What do the clients prefer? peachtreewebworks 04-27-2001, 03:48 PM Most hosts that I know of set everything up as a recurring charge. It shouldn't matter if they are signing up for a 1 month plan, 3 month plan, or yearly. As long as the customer has the option to cancel the auto-renewal you should be fine. I would go with the recurring billing every 365 days. Michael CrazyHostGuy 04-27-2001, 10:53 PM Just to put myself in the customers shoes.... If I opted to pay for a full year, I don't think I'd like it if a charge appeared on my credit card statement 12 months after my initial sign up. I would prefer if I received a reminder notice that my account was coming up for renewal, and perhaps be given a link to a form that I would have to fill out before a certain date to renew the account. That way it's my (the customer's decision) to use my card again. I just think that there may be some people who don't like their card being charged automatically every month, which is why some opt to pay yearly. These people would probably prefer to "opt" back into the plan. Then again, I could be wrong! :stickout Cheers! Rob. Ericd 04-27-2001, 11:39 PM I think doing it recurring and informing the client say 30 days before the contract recur should be fair. That way he knows he is going to be recharged and if he wants to cancel his account he just reply or follow a link on the email where he can cancel/stop thw recurring. Would this be a good way? GordonH 04-28-2001, 09:08 AM Hello Best to bill them in Month 11 Chances are their card will have expired between payments or their address will have changed. Gordon Ericd 04-28-2001, 12:25 PM Yeah, you're right, Gordon, i didn't though about that. I know what i'll do, i will put it as a normal transaction and will inform the client that his/her account is going to terminates in 30-day and give a link to renew. Thanks all  Get-Hosted.com 05-02-2001, 09:05 PM I think it's smarter to make them fill out a form if they want to cancel, not if they want to stay. Don't make people who stay do extra work. That also might make them think more about leaving. |
