I would like to use a cobalt raq for some friends and family that want a domain name. What product is good for managing, uploading and displaying photos?

I found this cool little program that creates html pages, converts pics to thumbnails and does a whole slew of other stuff. Chec out http://digitaldutch.com and click on arless.

Macromedia Dreamweaver is as good as any other html editor. Create a template and load up images onto pages. If you need help visit Macromedia.com for support from their team and users.

If you want an low cost image editor [for cropping, resizing, adding text over images, and many more features] I would recommend Uleads PhotoImpact.....very easy to use

http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php - looks very cool! I think I may want to download it as well. What exact files do I need to download & install? When I go to download it gives me a list of files  Also, can I use winzip to open the files.

I know they have a forum for help, but was hoping someone here could help me out :D

Download one of the stable versions (1.3.1 or 1.3.2) from the sourceforge.net site they send you to.

Winzip should unzip them.

Make sure your host has SafeMode disabled and has not disabled exec(). Both are requirements for Gallery to run.

The host I just left disabled exec() after I had spent weeks incorporating Gallery into my sites. Completely screwed everything.

Do you have an ftp program with an unzipper? I use cuteFTP and it works great.

Someone else may have some other suggestions.

I'll put in another plug for Gallery. We have used it for a long time now and never have a problem. Just make sure you get a host who will alllow you to install netpbm.

PhotoPost Pro is pretty good and has integration to Vbulletin. It cost money though.

Try UltimateZip. Freeware.

I've yet to see anything that it won't unzip.
I like it a lot better than Winzip because it's a lot easier to choose the file to extract to. You do have to open the archive (file>open) and then extract it (actions>extract).
For .sit files created on a Mac with Stuffit, I use the free Stuffit Expander from Aladdin.

Gallery is extremely good. We host a lot of sites that use it and perform the updates as new versions come out. Make sure you get the latest version because there have been a few security flaws recently.
