I'm thinking of signing up for a host. Pretty much a personal site, but probably have alot of digital pics on it. I found this site and was wondering if a couple of experts might check it out for me. http://www.1planhost.com/hostingplan.htm The only thing I see is that they say they limit their servers to no more than 250 sites. How good is that? They said they run at least dual 550s with 256 ram and dual SCSI, but in another place they say they run dual 850s. Is that pretty decent for 250 sites? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

man... i have never heard of this place but they sure have everything you would need.

serverwise, they appear to have a nice set up. 250 sites is pretty light for the servers you described so that is a good thing! the only thing is .... with everything unmetered, 250 sites could use up major resources! (little low on RAM though)

highlights include:

-cold fusion support
-SQL Server
-unmetered everything
-PHP support
-shopping carts
-etc.....

it is all pretty impressive andd they do have a guarantee. you can give them a try and see how it goes, as i have had no personal experience with them, but it looks rather impressive!

let us all know :D

Wow... how can they offer all that for $99??? The only realy obvious "suspicious" thing is all the UNLIMITED's they throw around!

From the site:
Unmetered Data Transfer means just that. We don't meter the amount of traffic you use. You won't get a surprise bill for additional bandwidth. This means that unless your site compromises the performance of the web server (which, by the way, probably won't happen), or the performance of our network - we don't care how much traffic you have. Your site should be successful.
Like how they say "probably won't happen"? :D

If anyone's using them, please post some reviews!

Michael

Alright, the wife said go for it. I e-mailed their tech support, had a few questions and got a response in 1 1/2 hours! Very cool. The only down-side is there is no control panel, I am wondering how do I configure things?

Hmm, looks to me that they're the same as ReadyHosting, maybe just under a different name?

hcarlson3,

Going with Weinbar was probably your best decision. They have a good reputation and are very good with their support and being upfront with their customers. Going with a host that offers unlimited this and that sounds to good to be true and 99.9% of the time it is.

Best of luck in your decision

This is 1planhost.com's response the the unmetered bandwidth deal.

"If your bandwidth starts to exceed 10 - 15 Gb per month then we will get concerned and may throttle your site back. Your visitors may then see a network is busy error and you would be notified in advance. If your site draws enough bandwidth to affect the rest of the sites on the same server, then we may have to temporarily suspend it until the problem is fixed. If this happens, we would send you a notice as soon as it happens. In our 5 years of hosting this has only happened about 10 times and these were mostly people who were violating our TOS in a big way with either graphics or MP3 download repository sites."

Everybody's a reseller! Once you open an account with 1PlanHost.Com Hosting, you immediately get reseller and affiliate status. No applications, no waiting, no approval process and absolutely no fees! Every additional account you register receives its own resources and you get a one time $10 referral commission!

Can you confirm, does the additional account needs to pay any setup fees after the "Limited Time Offer" expires?

Thanks

Well, when it says special promotion, then it surely means "limited time only". So I think yes, there will be a setup fee after it expires. You should ask them directly though.

as somebody already mentioned... they look EXACTLY like .readyhosting.com (http://www.readyhosting.com) under a different name. Even their descriptions and wording are EXACTLY the same.

Err, if they dont meter bandwidth, how would they know you are hitting 10-15 gigs? Thats what metering does, it measures the amount of traffic going thru....not necisarily limit it.

5 years? In that case, surely someone has heard of them before...

I made the mistake of reselling Readyhosting to a big client. Never again. Client is irate over downtime. Readyhosting 99% uptime guarantee is a joke. Tech support nothing but apologies.
